From Trevor’s pictures you wouldn’t think there was any wind at all. Well there certainly wasn’t much wind – but plenty of mist. So much so by race 3 it was beginning to obscure the outermost buoys. But the 9 skippers, buoyed (!!) up by a coffee break persevered for another 2, very slightly windier, races and then called it a day.

It wasn’t really racing – if you got a puff – then you were lucky and gained many places; if you were in a flat patch – you just had to watch other boats drift past.

The place was in near silence – no wind noise – no shouting of starboard (once I think) or water – most strange. It all changed though when two flocks of geese descended. Maybe it was their wings that gave us that little extra wind!
