A decentish breeze, not too hot or cold, not raining. 8 J class skippers got down to some serious racing today. With this wind the J boats are wildly unstable, and we must all remember to keep ‘well clear’ of one another. 1 ½ boat lengths (official ‘keep clear’ distance) would be really good. One wild ‘swing’ can easily close that gap before being able to react.
Two triangular course were possible: A/5,3,2,5,blues, then later, A/5,3,2,8, blues – finishing with a two lapper. Closer racing than the IOM’s with 5 skipper winning races but also with finishes down the fleet.
