Although a small group had intended to attend the competition on Sunday, in end, I was the only 3 Rivers representative.

It was a fine day with light winds. The hosts (and visitors) were very pleased that the new park ranger has allowed the club to cut the tall reed bed that lined the lake right back to allow a good view of the whole course. Very much better!

After a nervy start (for some reason I was completely misjudging the boys and hitting or missing them altogether (I put it down the stick boys they used – and an earlier than usual start to a Sunday!).  Anyway – there was some close racing with those catching the frequent changes in wind direction doing best.

We managed 7 races before the wind died altogether. With one discard, I am pleased to say that I came first overall. However, we could not count the day as a Pyramid Trophy day.

I hope that we can continue with such competitions. Lea Valley is a small club, with a declining membership – all of whom, like us all, are getting older. We should be able to take the time to support them, and other clubs, and it is not so very far away. I hope that we can welcome them here for a return match in the spring.
