10 skippers brought their W suits today (think about it – answers on postcards) but the forecasters weren’t entirely accurate. The wind was just westerly enough to give us a 7/7 start,3,2,6,3,2,6,blues, although for a few races we used 5 as the leeward mark when the wind died a bit.
Although we had 10 skippers at the briefing, John R’s hip gave up and he had to retire for the day. Hope its feeling better, John.
Nip and tuck between 78,79,181, 96 and 78, with a sneaky 4th to 1st on a beat to the line which was good for one, not for the others! Proceedings enlivened by Norwegian cookies (thankyou Odd) and mulled wine (thank you John M) – sounds a good idea for every cold and wet race day!
As it was the last Friday before Christmas, Odd also provided a small prize – Norwegian Beer – which on the bank (see above) seemed to give the consistency of 181 the edge. Thankfully (for 181!!!!!) proper scoring in the warmth of home didn’t alter the final positions (or maybe after the beers, I didnt notice)
