Not as warm or sunny as promised by the BBC weather forecast but a good…
A challenging mornings racing – fickle wind – both direction, and strength.
But first of all, a big welcome back to Peter, in a big, purple and comfortable looking mpv and a small red and very practical little mobility scooter, and to our new member Ian, sailing 121.
Despite the forecast, (SE) a very fickle NE ish gave us a 3/mark on the bank (see below) , 5 (initially 6) ,3,2,5,3,2,blues course that may, or may not, have had all points of sailing by all the fleet of 14 at the same time on the same or different legs. Well something like that. We managed 9 races, initial 5 with 2 and 3’s off, then a sequence of 4 with 3 and 4’s off. Good thing as the wind nearly deserted us for the last race. 9 races, 2 ‘observings’ means only 1 discard, but a fleet of 14 is very good.
We are going to be extra careful with names and numbers: lots of Johns, 2 Davids, 2 Trevors. We have 00,22,99, 181, 121, 21, 79, 97, 87, 78, 42, 24 in the club, quite apart from trying to sail the right colour (hull)— but actually looking at the wrong boat!
I have rescued buoy #1 and hope we can get it back on the water soon. Tom is unavailable at the moment, but perhaps we can get the help of BLYM next time they are on the water.
